Inpatient Psychiatric Program
The Portneuf Behavioral Health inpatient psychiatric program is designed to quickly return patients to their optimal level of functioning outside the hospital through an intensive, structured, physician-supervised program. It is an acute, short-term program for adults in need of a secure, therapeutic environment 24-hours a day. Patients admitted to the inpatient service have an acute primary psychiatric diagnosis and exhibit severe symptoms, which may include one or more of the following:
- Suicidal behavioral and/or threats
- Assaultive behavior
- Self-injurious behavior
- Sleep or eating disturbances
- Severe agitation
- Medication complications
- Acute psychiatric disorder
- Paranoid behavior
- Mood swings
- Psychosis
- Acute depressive episode
- Severely dysfunctional patterns of behavior
