Services & Symptoms

Services Include:

Cranial

  • Craniotomy for: tumor, trauma, epidural hematoma, subdural hematoma, subarachnoid hemorrhage, intracerebral aneurysm, intracerebral hemorrhage
  • VP shunt for hydrocephalus

Peripheral Nerve

  • Carpal tunnel release / Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Ulnar nerve release / Tardy palsy

Spine

  • Cervical laminectomy, discectomy, with or without fusion
  • Disc herniation, degenerative spinal canal and/or foraminal stenosis, trauma, tumor
  • Lumbar laminectomy with or without fusion
  • Disc herniation, degenerative spinal canal stenosis, foraminal stenosis, spondylolisthesis, traumatic fracture, tumor

Dr. Harrison suggests spine patients have an MRI or CT myelogram within six months of an office visit.

Signs and symptoms include:

Cranial

  • Headache, often progressive
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Cranial nerve deficits
  • Personality changes over time
  • Speech difficulties
  • Double vision, difficulties with vision
  • Weakness or numbness in the extremities, usually one-sided

Peripheral nerve

  • Focal pain at the wrist or elbow
  • Numbness and/or weakness in certain distributions

Lumbar

  • Low back pain with radiation down the leg(s)
  • Numbness or weakness in the leg(s)
  • Progressive difficulties walking distances regarding pain, numbness or weakness
  • Bowel or bladder dysfunction
  • Low back pain alone can be difficult to treat. The majority of low back pain should be treated non-surgically though there are certain conditions that may warrant surgical intervention, depending on the pathology.

Cervical (Neck)

  • Neck pain with radiation down the arm
  • Numbness and/or weakness in the upper extremity
  • Gait difficulty or instability
  • Bowel or bladder dysfunction
