Cancer Support Group Facilitators
Robb Dye
I'm Robb Dye, Portneuf Cancer Center's licensed clinical social worker (LCSW). I lead the H.O.P.E. Cancer Support Group along with Jennifer Robinson.
I grew up in Eastern Idaho and love living here. I have worked with support groups for over 12 years. Helping people work through hard emotional and relationship issues is what I do best.
So what makes our H.O.P.E. Cancer Support Group so special? Our group is made up of cancer patients, their spouses or other people who might support them. In a group setting you have the opportunity to benefit from what other cancer survivors have to share. We can have serious discussions about the challenges survivors face but we have good laughs too. Both are very healing. We talk about cancer survivorship at different stages of diagnosis. Sometimes we invite a guest speaker to come educate us on special cancer topics. We encourage you to bring family or friends to group too. Their support is invaluable. I have seen wonderful rewards time and time again from group meetings and invite anyone interested to come join us.
Jennifer Robinson
I'm Jennifer Robinson, MPAS, PA-C, a nationally certified physician assistant. In 2002 I started working at Portneuf Cancer Center. I havee had the opportunity to work with patients receiving both radiation and chemotherapy. Right now I work in Medical Oncology and help provide the care patients need at various stages of treatment and survivorship. The H.O.P.E. Cancer Support Group is near and dear to my heart. I've helped co-facilitate the group since 2004. I'm a firm believer in the benefits gained from group participation. I enjoy answering the medical questions that come up during group sessions.
If you or a loved one has tried to quit smoking but needs extra help, I can assist you with that too. I run the Portneuf Tobacco Cessation Clinic at Portneuf Cancer Center. It's a one-on-one program uniquely tailored to fit you. My goal is to work with you to develop a personalized cessation program, possibly incorporating stress management, nutrition and exercise, nicotine replacement therapy or prescription medications.
Robb and I are here to provide you with H.O.P.E. as you make your way through this personal journey called "cancer". We know the challenges you face and are here for you!
