Duties

Upholds the responsibility and authority for directing the management operations and clinical practice for Labor & Delivery, Post-partum, Nursery, NICU, and Pediatrics. Daily activities will include planning, organizing and implementing strategies, as well as effective delegation and mentoring in a participative environment. The incumbent must be approachable and give useful feedback to staff regarding their job performance. Provides strategic leadership by developing and maintaining the philosophy, policies and procedures related to the department and provides interpretation to staff, physicians, patients, and the public. Develops a budget to ensure adequate resources are allocated in support of department programs and priorities. Consistently follows established processes and policies for hiring, terminations, annual training, employee counseling, employee status/position changes, compensation, etc.

Requirements

Current licensure as an RN in the State of Idaho. Bachelor’s degree is required. Current BLS and AWHONN certification required. Three years of nursing experience, preferably in a labor and delivery or related setting. In addition, at least two years of management experience is required. Must possess thorough knowledge and understanding of patient care principles and practices; good management skills; effective oral and written communication skills; judgment, tact, and diplomacy; strong interpersonal abilities; critical thinking skills; and the ability to chair and participate in unit leadership teams and other committees.

Classification

Exempt, generally Monday through Friday, may vary as needed.
