Portneuf Behavioral Health Services

Inpatient Psychiatric Program

The Portneuf Behavioral Health inpatient psychiatric program is designed to quickly return patients to their optimal level of functioning outside the hospital through an intensive, structured, physician-supervised program. It is an acute, short-term program for adults in need of a secure, therapeutic environment 24-hours a day. Patients admitted to the inpatient service have an acute primary psychiatric diagnosis and exhibit severe symptoms, which may include one or more of the following:

  • Suicidal behavioral and/or threats
  • Assaultive behavior
  • Self-injurious behavior
  • Sleep or eating disturbances
  • Severe agitation
  • Medication complications
  • Acute psychiatric disorder
  • Paranoid behavior
  • Mood swings
  • Psychosis
  • Acute depressive episode
  • Severely dysfunctional patterns of behavior
