Quality Measurement

Portneuf Medical Center understands that we can't improve what we don't measure. That is why we set high standards for care and constantly measure our own performance. Using patient surveys, infection control audits and many other quality assurance tools, we continually work to provide the best care for our patients.

The following links provide information about how we measure ourselves and how others measure our quality of care. Please be aware that with the exception of HCAHPS, data used to rank/rate performance may be two years older or more.

Hospital Compare - US Department of Health and Human Services

This site compares hospital performance on several specific conditions: heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, and surgical care. You can compare a local hospital to other hospitals in the state and to hospitals nation-wide.

Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO)

The Joint Commission evaluates and accredits nearly 15,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States. This site reports information about accreditation status and quality reports related to national patient safety goals. Portneuf Medical Center is accredited by JCAHO.

Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers & Systems (HCAHPS)

The centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) have created a group of nationally standardized questions hospitals can use to guage patient satisfaction. Portneuf Medical Center incorporates many HCAHPS questions into the surveys we send out to a sample of our inpatients.
