Neonatal Intensive Care
You want the safest delivery for your new baby, and Portneuf is the only hospital within 50 miles that has a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
The Portneuf NICU is a 14-bed unit staffed around-the-clock with experienced nurses who are specially trained in the care of critically ill newborns.
Our physicians have specialized expertise in providing care for critically ill babies and are on-call 24 hours a day. Nine pediatricians provide continuous care to premature babies. Supporting this work are twenty-eight nurses and respiratory therapists with over 150 years of combined experience.
A neonatologist from the University of Utah visits Portneuf Medical on a regular basis to consult with local physicians on pediatric cases.
Our LifeFlight emergency helicopter has obstetric and neonatal teams available 24 hours a day with specialized equipment to care for your baby in times of need.
